Are you a registered Waste Producer? As an Organisation with redundant electrical equipment you are now classed under environmental laws as a Hazardous Waste Producer. As such you are required by law to obtain a Waste Producers Licence from the Environment Agency. This is required to enable you to dispose of your waste by a Waste Carrier. Does the company collecting your equipment hold a Waste Carriers Licence? Any Organisation removing your redundant electrical equipment from your premises is required to hold a Waste Carriers Licence. A copy of this licence should be requested before you agree to a collection. Computer Recycling Technologies holds a Waste Carriers License and is an Authorised Approved Transfer Facility (AATF) for WEEE. CRT would be delighted to furnish you with copies of all relevant licences upon request. What are the Differences Between a Waste Management and a Waste Brokerage License? A Waste Brokerage Licence is designed for companies or Organisations who deal with the collection of ICT waste from client’s premises. They can also act as middle men between the Client and the Waste Management Company, but cannot issue their own Certificates of Destruction. CRT Computer Recycling Technologies can confirm we operate within the terms of the Environmental Agencies exemption 49 status. This allows us to Collect and Dispose of all Redundant ICT Equipment without the need for a Waste Broker. We supply our own Authorised Certificates of Destruction. We can also confirm that CRT was one of the first companies in the UK to be appointed as an AATF (Authorised Approved Treatment Facility). This allows us to produce evidence to Producer Compliance Schemes that equipment has been recycled correctly. We would be delighted to furnish you with copies of our Licences upon request. |
